Abe Meets with Mongolian President at Private Residence

Tokyo, Sept. 29 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting with visiting Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj at his private residence in the Tomigaya district in central Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Sunday afternoon. Elbegdorj stopped at Tokyo on his way back home from New York where he attended the U.N. General Assembly session It is rare for a Japanese prime minister to hold talks with a foreign leader at his private residence. During the one-hour meeting, Abe said that Japan hopes to strengthen its ties with Mongolia in the fields of politics, security, economy, and cultural and personnel exchanges. Elbegdorj agreed to the view. They also discussed developments in East Asia, including the situations in China and North Korea. Abe invited Elbegdorj to his private home this time because he wanted to hold talks with the Mongolian leader in a relaxed atmosphere after they met six months ago, in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator, a Japanese Foreign Ministry official said.
