Clash Kills Pakistani Soldier, 5 Militants In NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 15 ,IRNA– A Pakistani soldier and five militants were killed in a clash near the outskirts of the northwestern city of Peshawar on Sunday, police said. A senior police officer, Rural Khurshid Khan, said the clash erupted in Bara Sheikhan area near Peshawar when a police party reached there upon receiving information about a planted bomb. During the search operation, militants attacked the police and killed one Frontier Corps official. The security forces returned fire and killed five militants, Khan said. The police have defused several bombs in Peshawar after receiving tip-off in recent days. Last month, a senior official of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was killed while he was trying to defuse a device recovered near Peshawar./end
