Bangladesh PM Hasina to visit India's Tripura state tomorrow
Agartala (Tripura, India), Jan 10 (PTI) The northeast Indian border state of Tripura will roll out the red carpet for a two-day visit of the state by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from tomorrow amidst a tight security cover.
The visit would be the first-ever by a prime minister of the neighbouring country to Tripura, which had played a key role in that country's 1971 liberation war.
Hasina, who would head a 89-member delegation including her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and two other ministers, would be received by India's Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal, Tripura Chief Secretary S K Panda said.
Sibal would receive Hasina as a special emissary of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when she arrives at Agartala Airport by a special aircraft from Dhaka at 3 PM tomorrow, he said.
Besides participation in discussions with business delegations of both the countries, during her stay Sheikh Hasina will also be getting an honorary doctorate in literature from the Tripura Central University. India's Vice-President Hamid Ansari will be doing the honours at the university's ninth convocation.
She would return to Bangladesh on January 12 after a civic reception by the Agartala Municipal Council, Panda said. PTI
