Turkish muslim community leader meets with Sarkozy

PARIS (A.A) - January 25, 2011 - Islamic Council of France deputy president, who met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy after adoption of the Armenian bill, conveyed reproof of French people of Turkish origin to Sarkozy.
Speaking to AA correspondent, the council's deputy president Haydar Demiryurek said that Sarkozy received members of the Islamic Council of France.
"I conveyed rebuke of French citizens of Turkish origin living in this country to him," he said.
"I told him that this bill is against constitution and freedom of expression," he said.
Demiryurek said Sarkozy listened to him carefully and promised to make an appointment to listen views of Turks.
French Senate on Monday adopted a bill that criminalizes the denial of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915.
The bill was adopted by a vote of 127 against 86.
With the adoption of the Armenian bill at the French Senate, the denial of Armenian allegations regarding the incidents of 1915 would be penalized with a prison term of one year and a monetary fine of 45,000 euros in France.
