Thai Justice Minister Not Worried Over Impeachment Attempt
BANGKOK, November 21 (TNA) - Thai Justice Minister Police General Pracha Promnog, who is also chief of the government's Flood Relief Operations Command (FROC), said Monday that he was not worried over the opposition’s impeachment attempt against him, allegedly for turning a blind eye on the misappropriation of flood relief donations.
Police General Pracha denied his involvement in the alleged misappropriation of flood relief packs, challenging his opponents to take a legal action against him. Besides, the justice minister acknowledged that he has ordered the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to investigate the alleged misappropriation, warning that he could file countersuits against his accusers.
Deputy government chief whip Paijit Sriworakhan said that the Puea Thai Party-led government whip committee would let the main opposition Democrat Party do its job, and that the government whip panel believed the justice minister would be able to clarify all alleged points.
Meanwhile, Dr. Cholanan Srikaew, secretary to the government whip committee, revealed that House Speaker Somsak Kiartsuranont has set a censure debate against individual ministers
on November 27, from 9.30am to midnight, and a no confidence vote on November 28.
Thai Defence Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapa said that he also believed Police General Pracha and the government side would be able to answer all the opposition questions, as all authorities concerned have done the best, insisting that the debate will be a chance for the government to explain its responses and obstacles to the country's flooding situation.
