Iran Welcomes Release Of Its Sailors From Captivity By US Forces

Tehran, Jan 8, IRNA – The Foreign Ministry on Saturday welcomed the release of 13 Iranian sailors from captivity of Somali pirates by the US forces. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told IRNA that the release of the sailors by US forces has been a humanitarian action, adding that the campaign against sea pirates is an international obligation. Mehmanparast said that Iran has conducted such operations in the past in line with the international campaign against sea pirates to release sailors of other nations./end
