French FM: Iran Deal can still be effective

Tehran, May 14, IRNA – French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that Iran nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) can still be effective. Le Drian made the remarks in an interview with reporters in Dublin. According to Reuters, French FM emphasized the importance of non-proliferation. “We are stakeholders in the Vienna agreement and we are going to stay stakeholders,” he said. Le Drian earlier expressed regret over President Trump's recent choice, saying US logic is based upon isolationism and is unilateral. 'We will attempt to preserve JCPOA achievements through holding talks with all parties and different bodies,' the French FM said. US President Donald Trump has announced that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran. This is while most world powers including Russia, China, and European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of world peace and security. 1378/IRNA
