Workers in Thailand retrieving derailed train carriages
LAMPHUN (THAILAND), May 27 (TNA) - Train services heading for Thailand's northern capital of Chiang Mai were disrupted on Sunday after seven out of 11 train carriages derailed in Lamphun province. Authorities say no casualties have been reported and that rescue workers are in the stage of recovering the derailed compartments.
Meanwhile, governor of the State Railway of Thailand Yuttana Tupcharoen said he believed train services heading for Chiang Mai would resume at about 1.00 a.m. Monday.
The cause of the incident, which occurred Saturday evening, was still under investigation.
