Turkish-Arab media forum to bring together journalists, academicians from 22 countries

ISTANBUL (A.A) - A Turkish-Arab media forum will bring together around 200 journalists and academicians from 22 countries in Istanbul. Turkey's Directorate General of Press and Information said on Thursday that the Turkish-Arab Media Forum will take place under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc at Istanbul's Conrad Hotel on November 20-December 1. The theme of the forum will be media, new opportunities and possibilities in the axis of change and continuity. Almost 200 journalists and academicians from Turkey, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Djibouti, Morocco, Palestine, Iraq, Qatar, the Comoros, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt, Mauritania, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Oman, Jordan and Yemen will participate in the forum. Some of the topics the participants will discuss in the two-day forum will be Turkish and Arab media's approach to regional and global problems; reflection of Turkish foreign policy on Arab countries; position of Turkish and Arab media organs in global media order; transformation in Arab world and new Arab perception in Turkey; international organizations, regional peace initiatives and media; social media in Turkish and Arab world; strategies for solution of regional problems and the role of non-governmental organizations; vocational training of media members and technical cooperation opportunities; and cultural cooperation; Arab Spring, media and youth.  A final declaration will be released at the end of the forum. Participants are expected to form a Turkish-Arab media platform. "We aim to hold the forum in various countries every two years," Murat Karakaya, the director general of Press and Information, said. Karakaya also said the forum aimed to boost brotherhood and eliminate prejudice.
