Turkey's EU minister: Turkish people impose their own sanctions on France

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkey's EU Minister Egemen Bagis said regarding the French resolution on Armenian allegations that Turkish people imposed their own sanctions on France.
Bagis said that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would announce the sanctions Turkey would impose on France if the resolution was accepted, adding that Turkish people imposed their own sanctions while shopping, buying automobiles or oil.
Bagis said that the resolution limited freedom of expression, adding that it was against the whole philosophy of French Revolution, as well as the philosophy and acquis of the EU.
Noting that Turkish-French relations had been continuing for centuries, Bagis said that Turkey had a representative in Paris since 1472.
Today, French Parliament will vote a resolution criminalizing the rejection of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915. The resolution envisages "one-year prison term and 45,000 Euro fine for those who deny genocide recognized by French laws." French Parliament had recognized so-called Armenian genocide in 1915 on January 29, 2001.
