Thai-Myanmar authorities meet to discuss border issues

MAE HONG SON (THAILAND), May 18 (TNA) - Thai and Myanmar authorities were set to hold their 19th Regional Border Committee (RBC) Meeting in Thailand's northern Mae Hong Son Province this week to discuss border issues. Thai and Myanmar authorities attending this week's RBC meeting in Mae Hong Song's Mae Sariang District include border military commanders whose common objective is to strengthen relationship between the two close neighbouring countries, through bilateral cooperation against cross-border crime, namely anti-drugs and illegal immigration, as well as on environment conservation. At the meeting, a proposal on opening a new permanent border pass, aimed to facilitate and boost border trade, was also reportedly included on the agenda. (TNA)
