Guinean President concludes official visit to Thailand

BANGKOK, June 26 (TNA) - Guinean President Alpha Condé concluded his official visit to Thailand, scheduled for June 24-26, on Tuesday, which was proclaimed successful, as Thailand and Guinea have agreed to promote their close and sustainable relations. The Guinean President and Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra have agreed that Thailand and Guinea can further expand bilateral trade and investment, as such bilateral activities have remained small due to a far distance between both countries. The Guinean President also had good opportunities to present his country to Thai business firms and state enterprises, as Thailand is promoting local industries of processed farm products, new technologies and green manufacturing overseas. Besides, the Guinean President visited a rice research center in Bangkok's suburban Pathum Thani province and invited Thai business operators to invest in food production and agriculture in Guinea, encouraging Thai business operators to particularly produce rice in Guinea for domestic consumption and to explore energy sources, as Guinea has remained underdeveloped and he, as the first-elected President of the Western African nation, wants to accelerate national development. Apart from paving the way for bilateral relations in the future, this visit to Thailand by the Guinean President also guarantees that Guinea will be a partner of the Thai Kingdom at bilateral and multilateral levels, and that Thailand will be able to sell products and services to Guinea and invest in the country. Moreover, people of both countries will have better understandings on each other’s country. (TNA)
