Thailand, Laos Sign Agreement On Developing Agricultural Technology

BANGKOK, November 27 (TNA) - State-run Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) and Laos’ Agriculture Promotion Bank (APB) have signed an agreement on business cooperation, developing human resources and on agricultural technology. The agreement was signed by Lack Wajananawat, president of BAAC, and Somphone Vongsavanh, acting chief of APB, in the Laotian capital of Vientiane on Saturday. Under the agreement, both sides will jointly cooperate on monetary affairs, human and technology development, and on customers. Thailand still has to depend on raw materials and a large number of Laotian workers while Laos wants to further develop monetary and know-how for its farmers in an attempt to boost its community, marketing and monetary products. After signing the agreement, Lack told journalists that BAAC and APB had previously exchanged personnel to study ways to promote tourism and community products of the two neighbouring countries. He said APB wants BAAC to provide knowledge on community development and on home stay tourism while BAAC is interested on linking community marketing between the two countries which could be carried out jointly by both sides in future. The joint agreement also covers on developing businesses of customers of the two banks, promoting customers’ deposit, ecotourism, environment conservation and on alternative energy, Lack said. Lack said he believed the agreement would help boost cooperation at the regional level in future. (TNA)
