Embargo against goods from Turkey will not be introduced - Kremlin
MOSCOW, November 26. /TASS/. Embargo against goods from Turkey will not be introduced and an opportunity of introducing the same is not discussed in the Kremlin so far, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"No embargo is introduced definitely. At the same time, additional control measures are naturally undertaken as the hazard of various acts of extremists is growing. This is fairly certain, especial in conditions of unpredictable acts of the Republic of Turkey," Peskov said.
"I cannot respond. I do not know whether it was discussed," the press secretary said responding to the question whether the Kremlin provisionally discussed an opportunity of introducing embargo against goods from Turkey.
Strengthening of control over Turkish agricultural products is particularly related to the potential threat of a terrorist act, the official said. "This is related to a fairly broad range of various factors. The role of the terrorist threat should not be definitely ruled out," Peskov added.
Russia will strengthen control over food supplies from Turkey and will perform additional border and production checks, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture said earlier on Thursday.
