TurkStat announced Turkey's industrial output rose 16.9% in Dec 2010 compared to Dec 2009

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkey's industrial output index rose 16.9% year-on-year in December 2010, announced TurkStat (TUIK), the counrty's statistics body, on Tuesday.
The output in mining and quarrying sector rose 1.8%, 18.9% in manufacturing sector and 7.9% in heating ventilating and air conditioning sector.
The industrial output in December 2010 also rose 16.8% compared to November 2010, revealed TurkStat figures.
Calendar-adjusted production index in December 2010 increased by 17.4% compared to the same month of 2009, while seasonal and calendar-adjusted industrial production index rose 5.7% compared to a month earlier, TurkStat said.
The authority added that the highest year-on-year increase was recorded with 34.2% in production of capital goods in December 2010, followed by the 24.4% increase in production of intermediate goods, 8.3% rise in energy, 7.5% increase in production of durable consumer goods and 5% rise in non-durable goods.
As for the sub-sectors of industry, TurkStat said production of transportation vehicles increased by 100.3%, wood products rose 40.3%, electrical equipments increased by 25.7%, while production in base metal industry was up 35.6% and production of leather products and refined oil products increased by 25.6% and 23.6% respectively.
