Turkish state minister inaugurates spinal surgery center in Sarajevo
SARAJEVO (A.A) - 20.02.2011 - Turkish State Minister Faruk Celik inaugurated Saturday a spinal surgery center in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo which recently received new surgical equipment worth nearly 1 million Euro from the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
Premier of Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina Mustafa Mujezinovic, Canton Sarajevo Prime Minister Fikret Music, TOBB chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu and numerous Turkish and Bosnian officials attended the inauguration of Kosevo Hospital's new clinic that will perform spine and backbone operations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Celik said Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina displayed efforts to improve their historical ties and bilateral relations.
Commenting on the war that had shaken Bosnia in early 1990s, Celik said Kosevo Hospital had been heavily damaged and its 54 employees on duty had lost their lives in the bombings.
Celik said the new orthopedics clinic established with Turkey's support would be open not only to Bosnians, but also to people from Bosnia's neighbors.
"This place has turned into the health center of the Balkans," he said.
Delivering a speech, TOBB chairman Hisarciklioglu also noted that Kosevo Hospital had become the most modern spinal surgery center in the Balkans with the latest equipment provided by his organization.
