Turkish Cypriot president briefs about the Cyprus issue
LEFKOSA (A.A) - President Dervis Eroglu of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Monday that time had come to settle a social consensus.
It is necessary to give up some slogans and statements not to spoil TRNC's relations with Turkey, said Eroglu who briefed the Parliament about the recent situation in Cyprus talks.
Eroglu told reporters that he briefed the parliamentarians about Cyprus meeting in Geneva and the proposal which were made regarding the process.
Noting that everybody was sensitive about reaching a sustainable and permanent agreement in Cyprus issue, Eroglu said that the Parliament was supporting him in Cyprus talks process.
I conveyed my views about decreasing the tension which accelerated in recent days in the country, and inner debates would weaken TRNC in negotiation table as well as harm cooperation with Turkey, noted Eroglu.
