Turkey's Ziraat Bankasi opens branch in Irbil
ANKARA (A.A) - 15.02.2011 - Turkey's state-run Ziraat Bankasi has opened a branch in the Iraqi city of Irbil.
Ziraat Bankasi, which is the first Turkish bank that has started operating in Iraq with its branch in capital Baghdad, opened another branch in Irbil on Monday, a statement from the bank said on Tuesday.
The statement said, in line with the recently rising business volume between Turkey and the north of Iraq, Ziraat Bankasi would actively take part both in financing of Turkish companies' investments in this region and in intermediation activities for foreign trade transactions between Turkey and Iraq.
The foundation of Ziraat Bankasi was laid in 1863 during Ottoman Empire period, and Ziraat Bankasi Head Office began to function in 1888.
Currently, Ziraat Bankasi has 1,280 offices in Turkey and 64 offices in 17 countries, and it employs 21,347 personnel.
The bank declared 2.7 billion Turkish lira (TL) net profit in January-September period of 2010.
