Turkey attaches importance to Bahrain's national dialogue call

ANKARA (A.A) - 23.02.2011 - Turkey's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Turkey attached importance to Bahraini government's dialogue call to national groups.
Spokesperson Selcuk Unal said Turkey was closely monitoring developments in Bahrain, welcomed the Bahraini administration's decision to permit pacifist demonstrations.
"Turkey sincerely wishes lasting stability and peace to be restored in friend and brother Bahrain as soon as possible," Unal said.
Unal said Turkey attached importance to Bahraini government's national dialogue call and wished the dialogue process to be launched as soon as possible.
Turkey also wished Bahrain to get stronger, more prosperous, peaceful and developed with reforms, Unal said.
Unal said all parties in Bahrain should refrain from violence and deliberate acts, which was important to maintain dialogue.
Turkey was ready to contribute to reform initiatives of Bahrain, Unal also said.
Bahrain has freed people accused of trying to topple the monarchy, which was a concession to protestors who took to the streets last week to demand a constitutional monarchy and an elected government.
A number of people were killed and hundreds wounded in demonstrations in Bahrain last week.
