Huawei to continue services for devices

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei announced on Monday it would continue issuing security updates and after-sales services for its devices after Google slapped restrictions on the company blacklisted in the U.S. Huawei is one of the key global partners of Google's Android operating system, the company said in a written statement. Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. had slapped restrictions on the use of Android for Huawei devices after the U.S. added the firm to a blacklist limiting the company's trade relations with U.S.-based firms, according to a report by Reuters. "Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products, covering those that have been sold and that are still in stock globally," Huawei said in a statement. The company said it contributed to the development of Android and worked with Android's open-source platform to the benefit of users and the industry. It added: "We will continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem, in order to provide the best experience for all users globally."
