World Challenge Day Sports Start Today at Al Arabi Club

Doha, May 27 (QNA) - The World Challenge Day (WCD) programme, organised by the Qatar Olympic Committee's (QOC)Sports Affairs Department, opens here Monday evening at the Al Arabi Sports Club. The WCD is a friendly international sports competition engaging people of all ages from all communities. It is organised by QOC in co-ordination with The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA) whose partners and stake holders include the International Olympic Committee (IOC), United Nations, UNESCO and WHO among others. The QOC's Sports Affairs Department's Sports Supervisor Fajer Abdulmohsin Atea said, "The event is being held to create awareness on the benefits of physical activity and to enhance community spirit." The events in today's programme, starting at 5pm in the Sports Hall at Al Arabi Sports Club, include football, handball, volleyball and athletics, she said. Participation is free for all ages and prizes will be presented to winning teams and individuals. (QNA)
