Wilhelmsson Set to Return to Al Hilal after Loan Term in Qatar

Riyadh, January 14 (QNA) - Sweden international Christian Wilhelmsson is to return to AFC Champions League Group A side Al Hilal following a loan spell in Qatar with Al Ahli, according to an AFC report Saturday. Al Hilal President Abdulrahman bin Musaed said Wilhelmsson, who has turned out for the Riyadh giants in the last three AFC Champions League campaigns, will feature in the group stage in the 2012 ACL and that his contract will be renewed for another year should the two-time Asian Club Championship winner advance to the knockout phase. The Al Hilal President also announced that they had terminated the contract of Cameroon midfielder Achille Emana. Wilhelmsson has been an integral part of Al Ahli's 2011-12 Qatar Stars League programme although his most recent match ended in disappointment as the 32-year-old being sent off in the 88th minute of Thursday's 2-0 defeat to AFC Champions League Group 'B' side Al Arabi. Al Hilal open their 2012 AFC Champions League campaign on March 7 when they host Tehran giants Piroozi, while Al Arabi, who finished runners-up to Thai Farmers Bank in the final of the 1995 Asian Club Championship make their first appearance Asia's premier club competition on March 6 when they face fellow debutants Bani Yas in the UAE.
