Third stage of international cycle tour begins in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 11 /Trend A.Hasanov/ The third stage of international cycle tour dedicated to the 89th birth anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev begins in Gabala. In the third phase, participants will have to overcome 160 kilometres along the Gabala - Oguz - Sheki - Oguz - Gabala route. Algerian athlete Yusif Regigi is leading on the basis of the overall standings. The youngest participant and member of the Sumgayit team Gurban Taghiyev showed the best result among Azerbaijani sportsmen. A bicycle tour in memory of Heydar Aliyev is a competition of a 2.2 U23 category (for sportsmen under 23 years old) and is included in the calendar of Continental Tour UCI (World Cycling Union). The organisers are the Azerbaijani Cycling Federation, the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. German company FREUNDE Eventlogistik deals with any technical issues.
