Sports Security Conference Names Three Key Speakers
Doha, January 18 (QNA) - The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), which brings together key decision-makers, experts and practitioners in sport security from around the globe, has announced the participation of three key security speakers at its annual conference to be held in Doha on March 14 and 15.
Former Assistant Commissioner of London s Metropolitan Police Service John Yates and Chief Executive of Skills for Security David Greer, a partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be taking part in the Conference's London 2012 Security Panel.
With the 2012 Games only months away, this panel will discuss the key challenges and security considerations for event organisers in London including on-the-ground security requirements, securing new infrastructure, threat assessment and mitigation.
The London 2012 panel also includes Lord John Stevens, Former Commissioner of London s Metropolitan Police, and Peter Ryan, Security Advisor to the International Olympic Committee.
The International Sports Security Conference has also confirmed UEFA's Head of Stadium and Security Marc Timmer who will be speaking at the event.
Timmer oversees the safety and security of all major UEFA tournaments and provides advice to over 50 European National Football Associations regarding stadium, safety and security issues. His address at the Conference will focus on the UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
President of the ICSS Mohammed Hanzab said, "The International Sport Security Conference provides an important platform for sharing information and exploring best practice, as well as addressing the most pressing issues in sport security today.
"We are very pleased that John Yates, David Greer and Marc Timmer will be sharing their thoughts and experiences at this year’s event. They join a distinguished line-up of speakers including the President of Interpol Khoo Boon Hui and the General Secretary of the Supreme Committee for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Hassan Al Thawadi.
The conference is a must-attend event for organizing committees, bidding candidates, sport federations, sport security practitioners, and private sector organizations associated with major tournaments."
Other speakers at the International Sport Security Conference include Secretary for Public Safety for Rio de Janeiro Jose Mariano Beltrame, National Secretary for Public Safety for Major Events, Brazil Jose Ricardo Botelho and ICSS Executive Director and former Head of Security for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2011 FIFA Women s World Cup Helmut Spahn.
