Shaikh Nasser honours Sudanese university team

Manama, Apr. 23 (BNA): His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman (SCYS), Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday awarded Al Khartoum University team from Sudan, as the winner of the Universities Debate, which was held by SCYS as part of the ongoing "Manama, the Capital of Arab Youth" events.
In the presence of Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Hesham Al Jowder, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa also awarded Iraq Technology University and Al Ahlia University, Bahrain as the second and third place winners, respectively.
The three winning universities competed in the "Importance of University Degrees" contest, which consisted of several intellectual debates, conducted in Arabic language.
Shaikh Nasser appreciated the presentations demonstrated by the participants, stressing that it reflected the noticeable development attained by universities across the Arab world.
He highlighted that such debates and programmes create platforms where the Arab youth are able to express their thoughts and knowledge.
Shaikh Nasser thanked the participating universities in the event and encouraged them to take part in more similar activities, confirming their contribution in creating a generation that is aware and capable of creating a glorious future for their countries.
Hesham Al Jowder hailed Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for patronising the event, which, he said, strengthens the skills of Arab youth and enhances their acceptance of the opposite opinion.
The awarded students appreciated Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for creating a platform where Arab youth could intellectually compete and utilise their skills.
