Shaikh Khalid to patronise CrossFit Championship

Manama, May 8 (BNA): First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa will patronise the first Zain Championship for Physical Fitness for men and Women, to kick-off Saturday at 09:00 a.m. Organised by the Bahrain Association for Weight Lifting and Physical Education, the championship is sponsored by Zain Company, GPIC, Banagas, Majestic Cars and the Hani Royal Suites Hotel. Shaikh Khalid asserted that Bahrain was among the first GCC countries to take interest in the physical fitness sport –"CrossFit", which has spread recently across GCC countries, especially among GCC youth. He said such a sport enhances the fitness of the people, improves their health and protects them from diseases, especially chronic ones, noting that the championship will promote the crossFit culture among Bahraini youth. Shaikh Khalid thanked the President of the Bahrain Association for Weight Lifting and Physical Education Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa and the Chairman of the High Organisaing Committee of the championship Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for their efforts to promote the sport and ensure the success of the event.
