Ranta Crowned Champion of HH The Emir Cup for Bowling

Doha, March 02 (QNA) - Finland's Tony Ranta was crowned Saturday as the champion of HH The Emir's Cup after defeating England's Paul Moore 477-457. The final was held at the Qatar Bowling Center. The semi-finals were also held today; Ranta defeated Colombia's Manuel Talora 451-393, while Moore defeated Kuwait's Jassim Abbas 443-416. The players who made it to the final 16 were Qatar's Zakaria Al Zaqouri and Youssed Al Jaber, Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed Al Saud, Kuwait's Basel Al Enezi, Yaqoub Al Shatti, Jassim Abbas and Rakan Al Omairi, Colombia's Manuel Talora, England's Paul Moore and Barrett, Finland's Tony Ranta and Mika, Australia's Andrew Frauli, UAE's Hussein Al Sueadi and Bahrian's Youssef Falah. President of Qatar Bowling Federation Abdul Salam Abbas thanked the participants and the organizing committee for their efforts. He also congratulated Ranta on winning the title. He expressed his happiness at the quality the participants displayed throughout the competition. The President of the Bowling Federation said that they will work hard on making sure that next year's cup will be included in the international ranking. This can be achieved by raising the prize money to more than $100,000, he added. The champion Ranta expressed his delight at winning the cup. He praised his opponents for providing him with stiff competition. This was the third competition held in Qatar that Ranta takes part in. He came in second place before in the Qatar International Bowling Championship. He lost to his compatriot Mika in the final. (QNA)
