QOC Celebrates 34th Anniversary

Doha, March 14 (QNA) - Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has on Thursday celebrated its 34th anniversary in a ceremony attended by HE QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, his assistants, department directors, heads of divisions, and staff. The committee expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the making of its local, regional, Asian and international victories and successes since its inception in 1979. QOC paid special tribute to former officials who are no longer part of the committee but contributed to its success. It also hailed current employees for their nonstop efforts to serve sports and athletes in Qatar under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is also the QOC chairman. Founded on March 14, 1979, QOC joined the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1980, the Olympic Council of Asia in 1981, and the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees (UANOC) in 1982. (QNA)
