Qatar's Al-Modiahki Wins Arab Elite Chess Championship

Dubai, June 23 (QNA) -Qatar's Mohamed Al-Modiahki won on Sunday the title of 2nd Arab Elite Chess Championship 2013 after beating Algeria's Mohamed Haddouche in the ninth round of the tournament. President of World Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov handed the championship trophy to Al-Modiahki. Egypt's Bassem Amin achieved the second place after winning his match with Kuwait's Bader Al-Hajiri, while UAE's Salem Abdulrahman came third after beating Jordan's Sami Khader. Chairman of the Arab Chess Federation Ibrahim Al-Bannai and the Chairman of Sharjah Club Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla participated in handing the trophies to the players. (QNA)
