Qatar Total Open 2013 Kicks Off Monday

Doha, February 10 (QNA) - The Qatar Total Open 2013 (ladies) organized by the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) will get underway at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Monday through February 17, 2013, amid participation of the world top ten. President of Qatar Tennis Federation, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said at a press conference held today, in the attendance of Managing Director of Total Qatar Stephane Michel, that the total Prizes of the WTA Premier 5 event which will be under the auspices of HH Sheikh Moza bint Nassir is USD 2.369 million. Qatar Total Open 2013 is now one of the biggest tennis tournaments after the four Grand Slams, considering the significant participation of top ranked players; he said adding that three Arab players will be among the 56 players in Qatar Total 2013. Stephane Michel said that Total was the sponsor of the first edition of the Qatar Total Open, 11 years ago. Step by step, the tournament grew and became one of the major sport events in Qatar, attracting the biggest stars in the world of tennis while shining a spotlight on Doha and making the quality as a Grand Slam class tournament. He expressed Total's pride satisfaction with the partnership QTF. After more than 77 years of presence in Qatar, Total feels like a Qatar citizen. This is the reason why we have decided to create a special day for the young students of French School "Lycee Voltaire", he said. This year, we also become the title sponsor of the Total Qatar National 2013 Youth Tournament, he added. (QNA)
