Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation Launches Qatar Open Grand Prix
Doha, February 01 (QNA) - Chairman of Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation (QSAF) Mohammed Ali Al-Ghanem on Wednesday announced the launch of the activities of Qatar Open Shooting Tournament (Grand Prix) hosted by QSAF, which competitions running till the seventh of February with the participation of the best ranked shooters in the world, with total prize money of about US DRLS.75,000 in the shotgun competitions for men and women.
This came in a press conference held here on Wednesday in the presence of the Assistant Secretary General of the Federation Ali Al Kuwari , who is also the tournament director, and the Director of the Losail International Shooting Complex, Mrs.Antonella, in which, the Chairman of the QSAF revealed the plan to convert all the activities and competitions of Qatari Federation to the international level, pointing out that 49 shooters from Qatar will compete in this tournament.
For his part, the Tournament Director, Ali Al Kuwari said, "The goal of organizing this tournament for the second time in Qatar is to attract the largest number of shooters who have World and Olympic achievements, which we have succeeded to a great extent to get the participants from six countries last year, while this year the participants represent 13 countries, namely Finland, Italy, Lebanon, the UAE, Belarus, Slovakia, Turkey, Pakistan, Germany, Greece, Russia, Algeria, in addition to Qatar the tournament organizer.
He pointed out that the technical level of this tournament will be high because of the presence of medal winning champions, such as Finland's Satu Makela winner of gold medal at the Beijing Olympics, and the Italian Francisco four times winner world champion and seven-times champion of Europe.
For her part, the Director of Losail Shooting Complex Antonella, said that the Qatar Open (Grand Prix) now has a great reputation after a good organization for many tournaments in addition to the excellent reputation of the Losail International Shooting complex, asserting meantime that the numbers will increase in the coming years.
