Qatar Lose to Saudi Arabia 0-1 in GCC U-23 Championship

Manama, August 16 (QNA) - Saudi Arabia on Friday edged past a resolute Qatar 1-0 in their Under-23 clash in Manama, a Qatar Football Association (QFA) statement said. The two Olympic sides are taking part in the GCC Under-23 Football Championship which started on August 15. Saudi Arabia scored the only goal of the match at the half-hour mark in the first half. Qatar figures in Group (B) alongside Saudi Arabia and Oman while Group (A) includes United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and hosts Bahrain. Qatar's Under-23 football team has a busy season ahead with major tournaments on the agenda. The Qatari youth team will compete in the Asian Games (2014) to be held in Korea from September 19 to October 4 as well as the Asian qualifications round for the Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to 21 in 2016.
