Qatar Basketball Team Heads to Manila for Asian Tourney

Doha, July 25 (QNA) - An 11-member Qatar men's basketball team Thursday night travels to Manila, Philippines, to compete in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship to be held from August 1 to 11. Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) Acting Secretary General Mohammed Ali Hobash is the head of the squad that also comprises administrative and technical staff. The cagers' preparation of the Asian championship included practice sessions at Al Gharaffa Sports Club. The team also played six friendlies with Tunisia, Lithuania and Egypt in Doha over the past two weeks. The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship for Men is the intercontinental championship for basketball, organized by FIBA Asia, that serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
