New Challenge for Bahrain Endurance Team tomorrow

Mallorca, May 8 (BNA): His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will lead Bahrain Endurance 13 Elite Team in the Iron Man 70.3 Triathlon Championship, which takes place tomorrow (Saturday) in Mallorca, Spain, with the participation of over 4000 international contestants. The organising committee of the championship has announced the course of the race that will take place in the most notable town in Mallorca, Alcudia. The championship will include 3 stages, beginning with a 1.9 km swimming challenge, followed by a cycling race for 90 km then ending with a 21.1 km run. As part of the final preparatory procedures, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Bahrain Endurance 13 Elite Team members completed all administrative and registration processes and handed over their equipment to the organising committee. Lud by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s, team members completed their final practice ahead of the big race. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa addressed the team members in a meeting that was held after the exercise, urging them to accomplish the best results in the race, similarly to the previous achievements the team attained in the Philippines last year. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Bahrain Endurance 13 Elite Team members were present at the general assembly of the race that was attended by all the participating teams. At the gathering, team members were briefed about the three stages of the championship and were granted the opportunity to meet the other contenders, who came from across the world to take part in the prominent international challenge. Confirming the team’s readiness, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that the team members are continuing their practice sessions until the last moment ahead of the race, adding that they are looking forward to adding new successes to their international triathlon achievements. He also pointed out the difficulty of the championship because of the unique topography of the town, which includes uphill and downhill routes. On his part, Bahrain Cycling Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa highlighted the team members’ efforts in training for the championship, making them fit to challenge the best athletes of the world in one of the hardest international triathlon championships. Team members expressed their enthusiasm about their first participation together in the Iron Man 70.3 Triathlon Championship, confirming that they have trained well in advance to achieve good results in the three stages of the championship and they are looking forward to attaining more titles, the same way they did in previous international iron man challenges.
