NBHF Fourth Olympic Triathlon Race organized

Manama: May 4 -- (BNA): The Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa asserted that Nasser Bin Hamad Foundation (NBHF) Fourth Olympic Triathlon Race serves noble causes and goes beyond sports boundaries. The race which was organised by NBHF in cooperation with Bahrain Roadrunners Committee was held yesterday, starting from Zallaq area. HH Shaikh Nasser and SCYS First Deputy Chairman and President of Bahrain Athletic Association HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa participated in the race. SCYS Chairman and First Deputy Chairman previously announced that the returns gained from the companies sponsoring their highness will be donated to Martyrs of Duty Fund as an appreciation to martyrs and their family members. Carrying 20kg of military gear, HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid took part in the race along with more than 300 contenders. The race included swimming for 1.5 km, cycling for 40 km and finished with a 10-km running race. HH Shaikh Nasser appreciated the foundation for organising such purposeful activities, which assure national unity in the Bahraini community and support charity. He also stated that the participation of amateurs, juniors and professionals reflect the keenness on accomplishing the humanitarian causes of the race. On his part, HH Shaikh Khalid said that the activity integrates sports and charity, proving the noble causes served by sports, especially in the arena of charity work. He also appreciated the efforts paid by NBHF to organise the race. HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid thanked the participating triathletes for showing high levels of performance and contributing in the success of the race. (IY) I.Y
