More than 120 athletes will represent Kyrgyzstan at Asian Games in Jakarta

Bishkek, Aug. 7, 2018. / Kabar /. More than 120 athletes from Kyrgyzstan will take part in the XVIII Asian Games, which is held from August 18 to September 2 in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia and in Palembang, the largest city of the island of Sumatra. 462 medals in 40 disciplines will be played. Combined teams of Kyrgyzstan will compete in 21 sports. Olympic kinds: Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, women's wrestling, judo, athletics, boxing, swimming, archery, canoeing, volleyball, shooting, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo WTF, weightlifting, football. Neo-Olympic sports: sambo, jiu-jitsu, wushu sunda, kurash, penny silat. Kyrgyzstan, as a sovereign state, first participated in the XII Asian Games in 1994 in Hiroshima (Japan). About 40 medals were won for its history of participation. Asian Games is a sporting event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia since 1951. Games are held under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia and are regulated by the supervision of the International Olympic Committee.
