Kyrgyzstan to host first Asian MMA Championship

Bishkek, April 5, 2021 . / Kabar / . Bishkek hosted on Monday a presentation of the upcoming Asian MMA Championship of the World MMA Association GAMMA.
Secretary General of MMA & PF Federation Abasbek Dorombayev said the tournament will be held for the first time in Central Asia and will take place on the shores of Issyk-Kul this summer on July 21-26.
"The decision was made during the world championship held in Singapore, which was attended by representatives of 56 countries," he said.
"I would like to point out that the championship was supposed to be held in 2020, but due to the current epidemiological situation, it has been postponed," the secretary general of the Federation explained.
He said representatives of more than 25 Asian countries, members of GAMMA are expected to participate in the championship.
In turn, Vice-President of MMA & PF Federation Aibolot Aidosov noted that the Federation is open and ready to cooperate.
"Holding this event will be an incentive for athletes from Kyrgyzstan and is a great achievement for our republic," he said.
The composition of Kyrgyzstan’s national team will be determined by the end of May 2021, based on the results of the MMA Championship in Kyrgyzstan.
The sporting event is organized by Kyrgyzstan’s MMA & PF Federation with participation of the State Agency on Youth Affairs, Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy under the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the republic.
The World MMA-GAMMA Association was established as the international organization called to unite all MMA federations all over the world and to achieve IOC recognition of MMA as an Olympic sport.
