Kirsten Wild Wins Ladies' Tour of Qatar Title

Doha, February 02 (QNA) - Dutch cyclist Kirsten Wild has on Friday won the final stage of the Ladies' Tour of Qatar, which started at Sealine beach resort, reaching the finish line at the Corniche to win her third Tour of Qatar title. The 2009 and 2010 champion beat Australian cyclist Chloe Hosking to the title of the 86.5km-race. HE Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani crowned the winners jointly with Qatar Cycling Federation President HE Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Thani, who heads the race's organizing committee. Wild hailed her teammates and praised their contribution to the victory. "The girls were so strong there was no chance," said Wild. "If you saw our train, you would see how impossible it was to pass. It was impressive." "They rode from the beginning. I only had to follow. I saved my energy so I could arrive fresh in the sprint. I had hoped for the jersey, but getting the stage too... I'm happy," said the three-time Ladies' Tour of Qatar winner. (QNA)
