KHK MMA Team to participate in European Championship

Manama, Nov. 16 (BNA): The Team of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) arrived in Birmingham to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the European International MMA Open Championship for amateurs. The championship begins on Thursday and continues until Sunday, November 22. Medical checkups will be conducted on Tuesday. Referees seminar will be held to familiarize with the details of martial arts in addition to the tossup which will decide the fate of confrontation between the fighters. Five fighters will represent the KHK MMA Team in the European Championship, led by the Bahraini coach Ridha Monfaridi and Russian coach Alder Androv. The team comprises 84-kg weighing MMA fighter Ahmed Al Kaabi, 66-kg weighing MMA fighter Isa Al Omairi, 57-kg weighing MMA fighter Hussain Ayad, 61-kg weighing MMA fighter Abdullah Seena and 70-kg weighing MMA fighter Ali Ebrahimi. The championship presents an important opportunity for all MMA fighters to gain more expertise especially as Hussain Ayad, Isa Al Omairi and Fahad Abddulrazzaque will participate for the first time abroad and aspire to present honourable levels and to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the best manner. As for Abdullah Seena and Ali Ebrahimi they had earlier participated in Las Vegas, USA and presented high standards in their frays with international MMA champs. Coach and former MMA fighter, Alder Androv, has praised the efforts of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness's support of this sport not only locally but also at the international level by opening vistas of cooperation and coordination with the International Federation (IMMAF) and the organisers of MMA world championships. KHK MMA Team director and members have affirmed their readiness and determination to participate in the first European Open MMA Championship, following intensive training including training on weight control, psychological and mental readiness, physical fitness, endurance and technical instruction, to hoist the flag of the Kingdom of Bahrain at this international sports function. They praised the support of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
