Iran's Aghili Joins Qatar Sports Club

Doha, July 16 (QNA) - former Al Arabi central defender and Iranian international Hadi Aghili on Monday officially signed a one-year contract with Qatar Sports Club. The Iranian defender, who is capped 66 times for the Iranian national team, known as Team Melli, netted ten times for his country. Aghili parted company with Al Arabi, whom he joined last summer from Iranian champions Sepahan Esfahan. Aghili has become the second foreign player to join Brazilian coach Sebastiao Lazaroni's Qatar SC this summer alongside Ivorian striker Bakari Kone. He expressed his pleasure at playing in the Qatar Stars League for the second season in a row, saying that he and his teammates will do their best to bring the team to the best shape. With both Iran and Qatar paired together in the same group at FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Aghili is set to face several faces familiar for him. Aghili is joined by midfielder Andranik Teymourian, who plies his trade for Al Kharaitiyat SC, as the only two Iranian players in the Qatari league. (QNA)
