Iran-Palestine To Expand Sports Co-op

Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – Iran and Palestine are to expand cooperation and relations in the field of sports. Iran’s Minister of Youth and Sports Mohammad Abbassi told his Palestinian counterpart Mohammad Ibrahim al-Madhoun on Monday that despite barriers created by Zionists for activities of sportspersons from Iran and Palestine, they have been able to make great progress in various scientific, sports, arts and cultural domains. He referred to Iran’s top position in five different sporting events worldwide and said Iran will powerfully take part in the London 2012 Olympics with 60 athletes. He added that Iran welcomes constructive views and is ready for sharing information and constant cooperation. Al-Madhoun thanked Iran for supporting Palestinians, urging formation of joint camps for scientific, sports and cultural cooperation. He said such relations would bolster solidarity and unity between Iranian and Palestinian youth./end
