International Sport Security Conference Begins in Doha Tomorrow
Doha, March 13 (QNA) - The General Secretary, Supreme Committee for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Hassan Al-Thawadi will open tomorrow, Wednesday, the International Sport Security Conference, an annual event that brings together the key decision-makers, experts and practitioners from around the world of sport.
The two-day conference, to be held at Qatar National Convention Centre, is themed: "Creating a Platform for Growth through Safe Sporting Events". It will focus on the positive impacts for hosts and partners of major sporting events, such as ensuring a lasting economic and security legacy, and the increased interaction of sport and socio-economic development.
It provides an important platform for sharing information and exploring best practice, as well as addressing the most pressing issues in sport today from safety, security, commercial and development perspectives.
The Conference features some of the leading figures in the field, including: General Secretary, Supreme Committee for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Hassan Al-Thawadi; President of Interpol Khoo Boon Hui; Chairman, International Rugby Board Bernard Lapasset; Chief Executive, International Cricket Council Haroon Lorgat; Chairman, Football Association Premier League Sir Dave Richards; Public Security Secretary of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, Jose Mariano Beltrame; and former Commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police Lord John Stevens.
The International Sport Security Conference is organized by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), a global, not-for-profit institution that aims to help event organizers to stage safer major sporting events. (QNA)
