HH the Emir's Special Adviser Awards Winners of the 6th and 7th Round of 34th Horse Race Doha, February 29 (QNA) -Under the gracious patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH the Special Adviser to HH the Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani awarded here on Wednesday evening the winners of the 6th and 7th rounds of the 34th horse race held within the 21th Qatar International Equestrian Festival (QIEF) organised by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC). HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani also launched the logo of the horse breeding farm of the QREC located in Shamal area. HH the Emir Trophies and Sword of the 7th round was given to HE Sheikh Mohamed Bin Meshaal Bin Hamad Al Thani which won by horse called /Flying Destination / owned by Enjaz Stud after having come in the first position in such a 1600- meters round which was dedicated to the thoroughbred mixed horses of a three- year age and above . Whereas the horse called / General/, owned by Mubarak Saeed Nasser Al-Nuaimi came in the second position and horse , called Al-Muthana, owned by Shaheen Ghanem Shaheen Al-Suweid Al Ghanem came third . The 21st edition of the Qatar International Equestrian Festival (QIEF) was off to a spectacular start here at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club s (QREC) premises last Thursday evening, Feb.23. The prestigious eight-day event is packed with a busy schedule of activities amid participation of prominent horse riders, owners and breeders who are competing in fair sport competitions from 23 February to March 1, 2012 competing to capture HH the Emir s Sword and Trophy . The QIEF has set new standards in terms of stake money being offered to the winners. A total prize money of QR 10.3 million is at stake to the winners during the eight-day event. This is a record for the REC, which has raised the stake money by a further QR 3.4 million for this year s edition of the QIEF. HH the Emir s Sword for Pure Arabians tops the list with QR 2 million, closely followed by HH The Emir s Trophy for Thoroughbreds with QR 1.5 million. HH the Emir s Trophy for local bred Pure Arabians is another QR 1 million in prize money. The Gulf Cup, Qatar 2022 Invitation Cup and Qatar International Cup are also part of the Festival. The festival activities will conclude tomorrow, Thursday. It was huge prizes to be awarded to participants in the 21st Qatar International Equestrian Festival awards and the sword of HH the Emir, amounting to a total value of 10.3 million QR in addition to 22 cars.(QNA)
