GCC Fencing Competition Kicks-Off In Doha
Doha, June 29 (QNA) - The GCC Fencing Competition for Men and Women kicked off Saturday in Doha with the participation of UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain in addition to the host country Qatar. It will conclude on July 4.
The Foil competition for ladies saw Qatar garner three of four medals. Qatar also came first in Epee tournament after Abdul Rahman Al Hashemi won the final 15-9. The Foil for men was also dominated by the State of Qatar, the final was between the two Qataris Khalid Fahed and Nayef Hadram. The former won 15-9. The Epee ladies final was also a pure Qatari face-off: Aisha Al Musalamani defeated Aya Beshir 15-12.
President of the Qatari Fencing Federation Saleh Amer Al Hameedi handed out the medals to the winners.
Chairman of the Bahraini Fencing Federation Sheikh Ibrahim bin Salman praised the good organization of the event. He added that such good preparation was nothing new for the State of Qatar. He thanked the competition's organizing committee for providing all the necessary ingredients to make the competition a success. (QNA)
