First Regional Meeting on Securing Sport in MENA Opens Tomorrow
Doha, March 16 (QNA) - In the presence of HE the Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Doha will host tomorrow, Sunday, the first regional meeting on securing sport in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The meeting is organized by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) in collaboration with United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).
The meeting, which seeks to promote a regional initiative on securing sport in MENA region, will bring together representatives from key countries, global and regional security organizations and sports and development institutions.
It aims to identify the needs and challenges in the development of safety and security of sporting events in MENA region, shed light on successful experiences and best practices for mutual assistance from other regions of the world, as well as discuss the possibility of establishing a regional platform for the security and safety of sport in the region in the light of the proposed project by the ICSS and the UNICRI.
The meeting also seeks to determine the financial and technical resources required from within and outside the MENA region to support regional platform, and discuss the possibility of organizing a regional conference on a high level that includes ministers.
Its key remarks will be delivered by HE the Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, UNICRI Director Jonathan Lucas and ICSS President Mohammed Hanzab. (QNA)
