Call to Participate in QOC Sport Survey

Doha, February 04 (QNA) - The Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has urged citizens and residents of Qatar to co-operate with the surveyors from the QOC, Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) and Supreme Health Council (SHC) in the on-going 'Sport Exercise Survey Project'. The survey's objective is to prepare a data-base on the levels of participation in sport activities by the local community here. QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani described the project as one of the key pillars of the sport sector strategy 2011-2016 which mainly serves the long-term objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. He urged all families to provide surveyors with accurate information about their health, the sport they pursue and their physical fitness schedules. The information provided by the family members and individuals to the surveyors will remain confidential and will only to be used for statistics purposes, pursuant to the Emiri Decree No. 52 of the year 2009, he added. Project Director Lulu Jassim Al Kawari said there was an overwhelming response from the community members. More than 1,000 families among 3,200 families had answered the questionnaires and provided productive information for the project, she said. The project is a pioneering initiative that aims to provide a trusted high-quality statistical data-base on individuals from various categories who regularly practice sport either daily, weekly or monthly basis in Qatar, the QOC said. This project reflects the profound concern of the Qatar's leadership to support the country's 2030 national vision through progress in various fields and the sustainable development. (QNA)
