British Ambassador to Qatar Congratulates Nasser Al Attiyah

Doha, August 02 (QNA) - HE British Ambassador to Qatar Michael O'Neill has congratulated shooter Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah on winning his first Olympic medal on Tuesday. Al Attiyah picked up a bronze medal in the men's skeet competition by edging Russia's Valeriy Shomin at the Royal Artillery Barracks. Vincent Hancock of the United States won the gold and Denmark's Anders Golding bagged a silver. In a message dispatched to the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), O'Neill said: "Just a quick note to congratulate you and all your colleagues at QOC, and of course Nasser himself, on Nasser Al Attiyah's Olympics bronze medal today." He added: "I was delighted at this result, in view of the extensive efforts of the State of Qatar to promote sport here. Please pass on my congratulations to Nasser, and to HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrehman Al Thani and your other QOC colleagues." It was Al Attiyah's maiden medal at the Games while it was Qatar's third bronze overall. Al Attiyah was mobbed by fans and the international press when he won the medal under pouring rain. (QNA)
