BOC official to attend ANOC meeting

Manama, Oct. 27 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar will be attending the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly this week in Washington. Askar, along with more than 1,000 delegates from 206 nations, are expected to attend the general assembly. IOC President Thomas Bach, along with IOC members and sports federation leaders, organizers of the next three Olympics and representatives from the five bid cities for the 2024 Games will also be on hand. During the General Assembly, representatives from the National Olympic Committees, Organizing Committees, and International Federations will be discussing progress on various projects, highlight outstanding efforts with awards, and prepare for upcoming events. Next to the Olympic Games, the ANOC General Assembly is the largest event for the Olympic Movement. The meetings bring most of the world's key Olympic players together under one roof, offering a platform for bilateral talks and backstage lobbying and networking. ANOC president Shaikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah of Kuwait will be overseeing the week's events, which conclude on Friday.
