B.GANGAAMAA CONQUERS MOUNT K2 SUMMIT

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On July 21, Mongolia’s mountaineer B.Gangaamaa successfully conquered the summit of K2 (8611 meters), second highest peak in the world after Mt. Everest, and became the very first Mongolian for the triumph. It was the third attempt of the Mongolian mountaineers to reach the summit of K2, known as the Savage Mountain and the goal has been accomplished by B.Gangaamaa. While standing on the summit, B.Gangaamaa made a satellite phone call to O.Batsaikhan, a member of Youth Commission of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA). She said, “I have stepped on the peak at 11am, according to Ulaanbaatar time. Right now, I am speaking from the summit of K2. Here it storms strongly, which hurries us to climb down. I have climbed together with Nurgu Sherpa.” M. Unurzul
