Bahraini marathoners' feats hailed

Manama, Feb. 15 (BNA): Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder, congratulated HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on the Bahraini national team's winning the title of the Arab cross-country championship in Tunisia. The achievement reflects the Kingdom's leadership's support to Bahraini sports movement, as part of a series of accomplishments at various levels, the minister stressed. The minister highly commended the support and directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), to the Bahrain marathon team regarding the paving of optimum atmospheres to achieve this great Arab achievement. The minister also highly commended the key role of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, Chairman of Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) in providing the plans and programmes that contributed to achieving the feats in the sport, pointing out that this contributed in consolidating Bahrain's position in the world map of athletics as the kingdom attained the top position in the cross-country championship which doubles the space of achievement in Arab championships. The minister expressed his appreciation of the national team runners, lauding their high morale spirits and loyalty in achieving such spectacular feat at the pan-Arab level, citing the role of the technical and administrative crews.
